FRESHFORD LIMPLEY STOKE HINTON CHARTERHOUSE

Various Groups

Community

The parish is very much part of the local communities of Freshford, Limpley Stoke and Hinton Charterhouse. Not only are we present in each village with the three churches but many of our members play active roles within each community. We are very keen to maintain this connection and to increase our involvement locally. This year our Rector was asked to open each of the community summer fetes and in Freshford and Limpley Stoke fete the church was responsible for teas and coffees.

In the village of Freshford there is a Church of England Primary school. Special occasions are marked with services in St Peter’s church Freshford. The Rector goes into the school. It is hoped that a team may go in to help with assemblies in the autumn. Three church members are also foundation governors.

There are two parent and toddler groups. The Freshford group meet at the Old Bakery on Thursday mornings from 10.30am  - 12.00 noon and the Hinton Charterhouse group meet on a Wednesday morning at the Hall in Hinton Charterhouse from 10.30am - 12.00 noon.  We hold events during the year to provide activities of interest to people from the communities.

One initiative is Messy church which grew out of the ‘4’ to provide activities and a meeting place for parents with young children.

In the New Year we will be starting a Café drop in church in the memorial hall in Hinton Charterhouse in the centre of the village for the village. We see ourselves as part of the communities and have a real interest in what is going on around us.
