A message from the Rector Revd Nigel Rawlinson

Greetings

I am excited about the developing life of the parish. As I settle into my 2nd year we have an exciting Autumn programme. We have just completed a mini-series on understanding Holy Communion, and are planning a series of teaching on the Creed.

As a Christian community, we have been inspired by Acts 2: 42-47. This describes how the fellowship of new believers lived together, devoting themselves to teaching, worship, prayer and the breaking of bread. They enjoyed the favour of people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. We believe that a joyous and united community is ‘infectious’ in its welcome. We are also biblically inclusive on gender.

We are launching a five year plan this autumn, entitled “2026 – 2031 A 5-Year-Vision- From maintenance to mission” We aim to be:

  • a growing Christian community
  • financially sustainable
  • based on seeking unity, practising compassion and modelling prayer
  • becoming more united across the A36.

We are coming into the Harvest Festival season. This year, in addition to supporting local food hubs, we are holding a harvest of talents and time, and a review on giving.

Finally very best wishes to everyone starting work or school again after the summer break.

Revd Nigel Rawlinson – Rector
